Who we are
Doug White
Doug is a fourth generation farmer born and raised in Yakima Washington. His career took him international where he managed large multinational projects. Doug worked with people of different backgrounds and agendas and was responsible to find common ground and complete the job on time and under budget.
Visibility and Voice builds the party and creates a platform for candidates: Doug's run for congress taught him much. Doug's background as a global project manager gave him the skills to achieve more in a campaign than others before him. He coordinated the democrats of Central Washington into a unified campaign team for the first time. Doug raised more money than any candidate in the history of his district. Force his opponent to spend more money than had ever been spent on a campaign in his district and Doug ran the first bi-lingual campaign and held the fist bilingual candidate forums. Doug has combined his skills as a global project manager to leverage organization, data, goal achievement, stakeholder management and more to optimize political organization. Doug believes that elections should be secondary to having a well implemented organization in place.
Galen Greenwalt
Galen has an associate applied science degree in nursing from Columbia Basin College. She is an RN and worked the majority of her nursing career in geriatrics. She worked at a skilled nursing facility that focused on rehabilitation after surgery and long-term care. For-profit health care left Galen unsatisfied and frustrated. Galen left work most days with the feeling of failure. She had given her all but the workload was impossible, her patients deserved more. The kind of care her patients should have received, Galen’s employer had not budgeted for. Galen took time from nursing to raise children and to take care of a parent receiving cancer treatments. Galen was adamant her loved one would receive the best care possible.
During her time away from nursing, Galen became aware of how real the threat of Climate Change was to humanity. Instead of going back to an impossible job, Galen wanted to help fix the healthcare system from another angle. She decided to make the move to politics. She volunteered for her first political campaign for Doug White running for Congress in Washington's 4th district. After White won the primary, Galen moved into a more administrative role and helped manage the campaign. Galen oversaw field organizing, managing and training volunteers for jobs including phone and text banking. Galen managed day to day operations of the campaign including White’s calendar and organized events. Galen is a PCO and Chair of the organization committee for the Benton County Democrats. Galen is committed to promoting and electing progressive candidates for the common good.
Skye White
Skye White holds a master’s degree in business administration. Most of her corporate career has been spent working for large telecommunication providers, helping government agencies develop and maintain their connectivity strategy. Her love of telecommunications and connectivity lends itself to political work as much of the process to get service and connect locations is permitted through city, county, state and federal agencies.
She is passionate about politics at all levels, and believes our democracy is better when all constituents are involved in the process. She is native to the Pacific Northwest and has been active politically since 2014.Skye has extensive experience working with campaigns on finance, reporting, fundraising, communication and strategy. She has served as both Chair and Vice-Chair of the 8th Legislative District Democrats. Skye was vice chair during the largest caucus turnout in her home district and helped ensure it was a success. Skye has hosted county conventions and reorganizations meetings of the local party.
Skye also serves on the City of Richland Code Enforcement Board as Chair. Skye is an avid student of Roberts Rules of Order and runs meetings effectively and ensures compliance of the board in parliamentary procedures.
She plans to create systemic change in our political system, by creating and fostering a more collaborative approach to voter education, participation and advocacy for change that impacts individuals’ daily lives. To make change, we need to have the hard conversations, with our neighbors, friends and families. I remember a time when issues were agreed on, solutions were the points of discussion. I plan to help get us back there. Let’s work together for a better tomorrow.
Skye also enjoys all things outdoors and spending time with her family, during the spring, summer and fall she spends a good deal of time in her camper. I love this planet we live on; I love our democracy and 4th of July celebrations. Let’s do work worth celebrating tomorrow.
