Rural Americans United
Strengthening democracy in rural America
Rural Americans United works to strengthen civic participation, expand representation, and ensure rural communities are heard. Through education, advocacy, and electoral engagement, we help build a democracy that reflects the people it serves.
Three Organizations
One Shared Mission
Rural Americans United works to cultivate a rural America where justice, inclusion, and informed voices prevail. To achieve this mission, the organization operates through three legally distinct entities. Each serves a different role in strengthening civic participation and representative government in rural communities.
Rural Americans United Education Foundation (501c3)
The Rural Americans United Education Foundation focuses on nonpartisan civic education and community engagement. This work includes public education campaigns, community listening events, research, and programs that help rural residents better understand how government and elections affect their daily lives.
Through these efforts, the foundation supports informed participation in civic life while helping build a rural America where justice, inclusion, and informed voices prevail.
The foundation does not support or oppose political candidates.
Tax status: Donations are tax deductible as charitable contributions.
Rural Americans United for Inclusive Democracy (501c4)
Rural Americans United for Inclusive Democracy focuses on issue advocacy and civic engagement that advances policies important to rural communities. This work includes public messaging campaigns, community organizing, and initiatives that encourage people to participate in the democratic process.

By advocating for policies that strengthen rural communities, the organization works to ensure that rural voices are heard and represented.
Tax status: Donations are not tax deductible, but they allow the organization to advocate more directly on public policy issues.
Rural Americans United PAC (527)
The Rural Americans United PAC participates directly in the political process by supporting candidates and electoral efforts that align with the organization’s mission of cultivating a rural America where justice, inclusion, and informed voices prevail.

The PAC can engage in activities such as voter mobilization, campaign communications, and supporting candidates who prioritize the needs and voices of rural communities.

Tax status: Contributions are not tax deductible and are used specifically for electoral activities.
Why This Structure Exists
Maintaining separate organizations allows Rural Americans United to pursue its mission through education, advocacy, and electoral engagement, while complying with federal tax and campaign finance laws.

Together, these entities allow supporters to contribute in ways that align with their interests while helping strengthen democracy and civic participation across rural America.
